About

Claire MacLellan

Claire MacLellan is a Scottish artist based beside Loch Lomond where she has lived and created for over 36 years. She blends observation with imagination favouring spontaneity over strict realism. Her work embraces fresh, impulsive compositions unconstrained by traditional perspective or scale. Inspiration comes from her beautiful surrounding environment or wherever she happens to be.

Loch Lomond

She describes her first love as colour and paint and this passion guides all her decision making. Claire thrives on a vibrant palette, bold instinctive decisions and familiar themes often becoming obsessed with a subject. Whether capturing the rhythm of a fruit laden still life, the energy of a seafood and wine table scene or the subtle mood of a landscape her expressive style radiates joy and warmth.

Claire has exhibited at The Mall Galleries, Dukes Fine Art, Green Gallery, The Watermill Gallery, The Glasgow Art Club, Glasgow Lighthouse, Studio 44, Galerie Écossaise, Graystone Gallery, sold work for the RNLI, Marie Curie and completed multi-piece commissions for newly built properties. She has produced a board room commission for an international shipping company, provided illustration work for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Mclaggan Smith Mugs and collaborated with Bluebellgray.   She is delighted her paintings hang all over the UK and abroad.

Looking ahead to the Spring and Summer ….. Claire is looking forward to exhibiting at the Guilsborough Gallery, Green Gallery, Graystone Gallery and Dukes Fine Art (including exhibiting with the gallery at Fringe by the Sea, North Berwick)

If you’re interested in purchasing or commissions I’d love to hear from you.
